Skiing death: How does the news know that he was killed that way?

Today the news says someone on Mt. Hood (Oregon) at the Mt.
Hood Medow Ski Resort was killed by being hit by another skiier.

How do they know that if nobody saw the accident? I mean there
is no word on his cause of death. He could have run into a tree
and slid down the hill until someone saw him lying there.
I just wish that the news could at least explain how they came to
the conclusion that the man was hit by another skiier instead of
just running into a tree or perhaps another cause of death.
