I’m an intermediate skier, I do any run, but I’m not pro-good. I was wondering what speeds I can reach when skiing really fast. Not trying to go for a record, but just skiing intensely.

um… its kind of hard to answer that since no amature or intermediate skiier normaly bring a machine to calculate the speed. (and anyways u probably wont be able to know how fast you’re going, unless if u have a really good sense of speed). need math help

There is not a definition of “how fast” a person skis. It is relative because of various things. For example, conditions of the snow (icy & slush etc.) Also, how often skis are tuned (bases waxed and edges sharpened). Skiing on any level is not about speed. It is about the quality. For example, you could ski straight from top to bottom, but this does not show any skiing skills. Although, you could ski carving beautiful turns with either a small or large radius in control and this shows more most of the time in skiing. However, if you are ski racing for the United States Ski Association (USSA) or FIS (which I don’t know the abbreviation) it is important to ski fast and with quality. Also, ski racing is not about how fast you ski. It is about who can lay down the best time with a combined time from two runs. Times are relative too. If you want to know more then just message me.
