How old do you have to be to drive a jet ski?

I am thinking of buying a jek ski and would like to know how old you have to be to drive one and how old do you have to be a passenger? Do you need a lisence or insurance?
I live in the UK (N. Ireland)

    legally u need a license but some places dont even check. no age requirement for a passenger. you dont need insurance rocket

    You don’t always need a license or insurance, as for any water craft – but it is a good idea to have both, particularly with jet skis which need almost no skill to drive and are murderous in the wrong hands. That said, the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) says that a certificate is needed to launch from quite a few UK harbours.

    The RYA does a one-day course which you can take from the age of 12, although they think you should be 16 to go solo. Here is the link.
