I am going to school for ski area management. Next year I get to go somewhere for an internship. I want to get the most of this experience so I’m trying to find a nice little town with good skiing. A list of five to ten would be great!

Crested Butte, Steamboat, Telluride, Breckenridge, Vail, Aspen, Copper Mountain. They all have a different flavor, so read up and see which one you think fits you best. It seems CO has no shortage of great skiing towns Mikey

You might be going about this backwards. There is often a shortage of internship placements available. Some internships are plum gigs but some can be pretty rough. You may not want to shop for the town first you may want to find the placements available first then sort them out.

Keep in mind that the cost of living in the vicinity of Aspen, Vail, Steamboat and Telluride can be somewhere between high and astronomical. Actually, it’s not exactly cheap anywhere near a major resort and while the villages in some of these areas are fairly small, they can be pretty glitzy.

The town of Dillon is close to all the major summit county ski resorts so there are a lot of options within striking distance. Dillon isn’t cheap either but there are more options available.

Finally, Winter Park is out of the way enough that it escapes the front range crush on weekends but it’s also a one shot deal, one town, one option.

Best of luck……I’ve BTDT it was fun. Sierra Crew

Crested Butte is a great place to live. It also has ski terrain. If you are looking for the small town feel, cb is a great place. I am bias because I live here, but that is where I would want to be for an internship. Be careful, I came out here for a year and that was six years ago. Mark F
