What Ski for the recreational skiier should I get?
What company makes good skiis for a beginner like me. I’ve skied three times in my life.
I was looking at K2 (Sabres) and Solomon but Solomon doesn’t seem to have forgiving skiis.

I picked up a pair of Volant skis off ebay a couple years ago for 100 bucks. They were used as demo skis and many people make a business out of selling them used for very cheap. Volant is not exactly the cheapest ski, but they are heavy, fast, and cut through powder. Best skis I’ve ever owned, and I’m not really an expert myself. Many rental shops have beginner packages that come with Salomon skis if that helps. You can always trust K2 for quality equipment, though I’m not sure how many models they have geared toward beginners. Peatear Griffon
K2 does make a wide range of skiis and snowboards for all levels. If you check their website, you can get a good overview of types and specifications.
Whatever brand you choose, buy a more advanced ski than you will need in the next 2 seasons. The ski will help teach you to ski better.
There is no “best ski” and no “bad ski”. The proper tune will make any ski perform differently. Hope this helps. Jim. Jim W
it depend on what type of recreational ski u want. if you want twin tips, armada, k2, and line are some great companies. for a more all mountain ski, k2s are still good, and so are salomon, vokl, and atomic. but it depends on your preference, and if you want something in between, i would look at a K2 all mountain twin tip like the public enemy. for a good beginner ski, i would suggest either salomon, or rossignol. o ya and just in case u didnt know, twin tips mean their is a tip at the back of the ski too, not only just the front. this lets u do many things, most importantly ski backwards.
