Why do jet skiers rev the ski after pulling out of the water?
Hi all, just bought a used 2 stroke polaris jet ski. why does everyone i see with one rev the crap out of it after they pull it out of the water? is this for a reason. currently i dont do this. should i?

I do it to force any water out of the jets. You really want to do this if its used in saltwater. On some models, any standing water in the hull is pumped out with help of the engine, so that could be another reason. I don’t rev it to the max, just a quick one. If you run the engine too much out of the water you can damage it. Its not something you absolutely need to do. I stopped doing with my new ones and everything is fine. The biggest thing to look out for is sucking rocks or sand into the impeller if you don’t kill the engine far enough away from shore if your parking it there. quagmire
